Just Beyond the Flowers

In life flowers represent many occasions. They can be gestures of love and celebration or condolences for a lost loved one. They can even be used as medicine in certain occasions. The use of flowers varies far and wide. 

What I think gets lost in these occasions are the moments after. What happens after the confetti falls? What happens after everyone has said their good byes? Just Beyond the Flowers there seams to be a void or loneliness that happens or a realization that "this" has finally happened. "I came home from war" "We got married" "We had a baby" "Someone I love is sick" "Someone I loved passed" And now what? In an instant life is different. 

As a person receiving flowers, I think it is important to sit in those moments after and take pause. Appreciate that moment for what it is, good or bad. It's ok to rest, its ok to cry, be angry or feel completely lost and out of control. All emotions are acceptable and valid.

As a person gifting the flowers I think its an important lesson to check on people after the ceremony is over. Could be days,  weeks, months or even years later when someone needs you. 

For me I was seeking flowers and herbs as a form of medicine. A more natural approach to health and healing as modern medicine had proven to be insufficient. But Just Beyond the Flowers, I found a community and unexpected friendships.
