Waiting: A Place for a Poet

Many a time in life something happens to us and we a caught wondering why. Why did this happen to me or why did this happen to us. Searching for meaning or for lessons. And the plain reality is they may not be visible for some time. We are left waiting. 

I took this photo not knowing in the moment who it'd be for or if it'd even be any good. However this became a photo for a particular friend of mine who happens to be a published poet. He unfortunately lost his significant other at a young age. From my experience of dealing with my own trauma I have found the best way to heal is to sit with the pain and feel it. The tragic irony is that often the greater amount of suffering we experience the more empathic and deeper we are able to feel. Everything that encompasses beautiful poetry. 

To those who experience tragedy or loss make sure you take time pause, reflect and heal. You may be waiting a while, you may be waiting forever. However there is a reason that the bench in this photo has two seats...One for you and one for someone to help you get through what your going through. It may not seam like it but there is beauty in suffering as it allows us to experience the full depth of human emotion. And that is the lesson.
