Do you remember in grade school taking swimming classes? It was a unit where kids could learn how to swim in a safe environment with life jackets and floating swim boards. Plenty of teachers and life guards around. As we got older you got less and less equipment to help you stay a float. And rightly so, as the older you get the bigger and stronger you become.

I remember one of the units in swim class was to learn how to tread water. It was and still is my least favorite thing to do. You are expending energy just to stay a float. You are not moving in any direction, you are just staying in place.

At least with a front stroke or back stroke or the multitude of swimming forms you are expending energy in a certain direction. You are at least moving in a positive direction.

With treading water I felt stuck and I wasn't very good at it. Especially the older I got and the more muscle I gained as a young man, the harder it was to stay a float. The amount of energy needed, not to sink like a rock, increased exponentially.

Somedays, as of late most days, I feel like this seal. Treading water. Stuck between an angry ocean and a jagged shoreline. Waiting out the storm for better weather. The tricky part is you know the storm won't last forever, but you also don't know how long it will last either. So there you sit amongst the crashing waves, ducking under the surface as they pass over you. Coming back up for air to do it all again moments later. Treading water waiting for something better.

Even if you don't end up purchasing anything. I appreciate you stopping by to take a look and I hope this helped you in some way. Good luck, I am rooting for you.

Sincerely,

Ryan Schmid - "Be Good, Do Good"
